45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
The history of basketball will be taught. The class will cover history, some original rules, and fun facts. We will also learn about men's and women's basketball from the beginning to what it looks like today. We will end our class with a trivia game in Kahoot to test what we learned. The class is structured as a lecture, but with open conversation about the things we are learning. Participation in conversations is encouraged. Learners of all experience levels will be welcome in this class. No previous knowledge is required. If the Kahoot website fails us as technology occasionally does, we will finish the trivia in Zoom via PowerPoint.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how the sport of basketball began and some of the earliest rules. We will also compare and contrast some of the original aspects of the game to the modern game we know today.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Jessica King. My family and I live in the Memphis, Tennessee area.
I hold a professional teaching license for my state. My degrees are Master of Arts in Education (Bethel University- 2013), Bachelor's of Science in Physical Education (University of Memphis-2011), Associate's of Science in Physical Education and Health (Jackson State CC- 2009). I am beginning my 9th year of teaching Physical Education (elementary and middle) and almost 3 years experience of teaching ESL online. My experience ranges from the ages 3-17.
Sports are a huge part of my life and always have been. I was a collegiate athlete with a full scholarship to play basketball. It was life changing. It taught me how to look at the world beyond just myself. It was a joy when I was a girls' basketball (ages 4-14) for many years. I look forward to spreading my basketball knowledge to many more children in my classes.
As a child, whenever someone asked me "What do you want to be when you grow up?" For the longest time, my answer was "I want to be an art teacher."
As you have read that did not happen, but I have never lost the love for art and being creative. I look forward to offering many drawing classes of various animals, creatures, and characters.
Thank you for checking out my teacher profile. Feel free to send my any questions. Follow my teacher profile so that I may get the chance to teach your child. I hope to see you soon. =)
