The History of Astrology: Flex Class: History, Art, Mythology & Writing

In this 4-week flexible class, students will learn about the history of Astrology and create a project every week. We will also tie in history, mythology & writing each week!
Class experience
*In this Flex class students will learn about the history of Astrology by reflecting on Babylonian through Modern views. *Mythology, Art & Writing will be incorporated each week. *Each week will involve 2 lessons & 1 new project will be explained & assigned. *At the end of the 4 weeks, a cumulative presentation, uploaded in the classroom, will showcase what the students have learned! *This is NOT self-paced (see schedule below), it is a Flex class BUT still develops community & requirers...
Students will learn about the history of astrology, improve fine art skills, gain confidence in their ability to create & write. Plus, become more comfortable researching. The Humanities Are Super Important! Through Them Students: *Learn Research & Reflection Skills *Develop Empathy & Understanding For Historical Cultures *Gain Personal Connections To Humanity In Different Time Periods *Practice Fine Motor Skills While Being Creative *Become Responsible Community Members *Learn To Express Themselves Through Art & Writing
*I have taught the Humanities in Pennsylvania public schools since 1996 with tremendous interest & excitement from students. *I'm extremely passionate about the humanities and feel they are very important in a person's life. *Each lesson I teach has been carefully planned and tested in my brick and mortar (17 Years) or virtual classroom. *I teach in an upbeat and encouraging way and I truly want each student to be comfortable expressing themselves in their work.
For the Art Projects- "Student Choice of Medium"- Students may need: -12 inch ruler -drawing paper -pencil with an eraser -colored pencils -construction paper (various colors) -watercolor paper -crayons -markers -paints (watercolor or acrylic) -paintbrushes -glue stick scissors
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Creative works will be viewed, discussed and used for inspiration during this course. I will not be showing, discussing or referencing any controversial works. All selected works are age appropriate. Sometimes when kids learn about an artist, artwork or culture & become interested they want to do their own further research & may come across some of more graphic works if they have unchaperoned access to the internet.
