Class Experience

Students will critically examine the characters and plotlines from the Harry Potter books by putting themselves into their situation and deciding what they would do. They will also discuss how the actions of each character have an effect on this plot.
The Harry Potter books do depict violence and death, Parents should evaluate the books and determine whether their child is mature enough to discuss these topics.

I already teach a Harry Potter Book Club class for books 1, 2 and 3, so this class will be a follow up to that class, so the students can continue to learn about and discuss the Harry Potter books.
Students will not have homework, but they will want to reread sections of the book we are discussing for the next week.
The students will need to have the book Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire
Learners will be assessed through discussion of the plot, themes and characters, as well as through a review quiz at the end of each class.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This book does depict fighting and violence, as well as imagery that could be upsetting to small children. It is intended for more mature children.
The students will need to have read the first 3 Harry Potter book that we will be discussing: The Sorcerer's Stone, The Chamber of Secrets and The Prisoner of Azkaban. If they'd like, they can read the 4th book as we go along.
