The Great Chicago Fire was one worst disasters to befall an American City. How and why did it happen? What events led to this disaster, and what can we learn from it today. And why do we blame Mrs. O'Leary's Cow for starting the fire? Told through the eyes of people close to these events, including the O'Leary Family, and based on the Jim Murphy's Scholastic book, The Great Fire (1995). I. A City Ready to Burn II. Everything Went Wrong III. The Dogs of Hell Were on the Housetops IV. A Surging Ocean of Flame V. Chicago in Flames VI. The Ghost of Chicago VII. Myth and Reality
