On your marks, get set...BAKE! Is your child a fan of the Great British Baking Show? If so, this class offers a great opportunity to combine their love of "baking" with their own creativity and style through the use of Play-Doh. Each class will offer a different challenge for the students to take part in. Much like the show, the teacher will present a creative challenge for students. During class, they will be given a time limit to complete their signature, technical or show-stopper Play-Doh creation. Each student will be given the opportunity to talk about their "bake" and tell how they created it (having the opportunity to practice public speaking). Others will be given the opportunity for positive and helpful feedback (promoting positive peer interaction). The teacher will guide students in staying on task while promoting a fun and creative environment. Please see the class supply list in order to prepare for your "baking" challenge! Below you will find an important note about possible allergies as well as a class topics list by week. Class topics never repeat and are new each week! I can't wait to see you in class. * Play doh contains gluten and cannot be used by students who are Celiac or have a gluten intolerance. An alternative dough may be used as well (homemade, model magic, clay or similar are all acceptable substitutions for this class). Week 1: Cakes Theme: Birthdays Week 2: Cookies Theme: Fillings Week 3: Ice Cream desserts Theme: Flavors Week 4: Sweets & Treats Theme: Fall Week 5: Breads Theme: Baking Around the World Week 6: Pies Theme: Lattice work This is an ongoing class with new weekly themes that are updated throughout the year.

Supply List
Play-Doh (or) modeling clay - in a variety of colors Utensil for cutting (non-sharp butter knife or plastic cutlery) - please no sharp objects! Small plate (for final presentation)

Hello & welcome to Outschool! My name is Suzi and I'm excited to share a bit about myself.
I am a former elementary school teacher turned homeschooling mom. I have a background in Literacy education and find joy in teaching new things and helping students discover their interests through content and instruction. I think it's important to engage students through storytelling, example and hands on experiences.
As a teacher, I've taught everything from pre-school through high school grades and across all content areas. My favorite subjects to teach are history and math and I have a serious love of language and how to use it, whether it be through writing, speaking or problem solving.
My family and I live in Wisconsin. We have 3 children and 3 dogs and are originally from the East Coast...but are starting to realize we're destined to be midwesterners! My oldest is in her first year at The United States Military Academy at West Point, my middle is a junior in high school and my youngest is a freshman. I hope to see you in class soon!
