The Kikuyu people are the largest Bantu Speaker in Kenya. They are known as farmers, industrious and an entrepreneurial community. They have distinct traditions, customs and culture and were the freedom fighter. This class will take a peak at their way of life:- 1. Family Group. 2. Language. 3. Mythology. 4. Agricultural / Farming 5. Food 6. Medicine 7. The Mau Mau Freedom Fighters. 8. Society 9. Modern Day Kikuyu People 10. Prominent Kikuyu People ~ the first woman to have won a Nobel Peace Prize from Africa and others. The class will be taught using Slides, Videos, and first hand information from a fluent Gĩkũyũ speaker. This is a series of classes that covers Ethnic and Indigenous people of East Africa. Classes do not have to be taken in any particular order. These are different Ethnic Groups/ Umbrella Families. Other classes include:- ***The Maasai People (Nilotic) *** Rendille People (Cushitic) *** Luo People (Luopean/Lakeside Nilotes)
