Class Experience

This class will cover the following common grammar mistakes: there, their and they're; you're and your; then and than; lie and lay; who and whom; two, to and too; affect and effect; I and me; it's and its, and principle and principal. We will go over each 2-3 words that are mistaken for each other and when to use each word.

We will also discuss the difference between each group of words. For example, the difference between to, two and too and when to use each correctly. My teaching style is very inclusive. I try to make each child comfortable and each student will be called on to participate. Learning can sometimes be frustrating, so I try to always be encouraging if and when the student gets an answer incorrect. We will have the lesson with questions throughout and then a review over everything we have covered in class.

Hi there! I'm Teacher Lauren. I teach English as a Second Language and English including parts of speech, grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. I have a bachelor's degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. I have experience as a Catering Manager for the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas and also experience working for Hyatt hotels as an Executive Administrative Assistant in Sales and Catering, for a total of 10 years in the hospitality industry. I believe proper English skills will benefit children both in their academic and professional careers. I like to make learning fun. I always try to be encouraging, because learning new things can be frustrating and often times, kids can be hard on themselves. I would love to teach your child!
