This is a weekly ongoing class that covers the essentials to writing a good summary. Students will learn the process to writing a summary. Each week, there will be a short and engaging story read aloud by the teacher that students will summarize. The students will write their summary as the teacher will guide and monitor the students to ensure they are creating a summary that contains the necessary elements of summarizing. After completing a summary, the teacher will then lead the class in a fun directed drawing that will accompany the summary they wrote. Week 1 - Edward the Emu by: Sheena Knowles Week 2 - Library Lion by:Michelle Knudson Week 3 - Interstellar Cinderella by: Deborah Underwood Week 4 - A Visitor for Bear by: Bonny Becker Week 5- The Old Woman Who Named Things by: Cynthia Rylant Week 6- The Barnabus Project by: Terry Lan Week 7- The Poisoned Apple by: Anne Lamebelet Week 8- Except Antarctica by: Todd Sturgell Additional classes will continue to be added. Students will have the opportunity to share their summary and drawing in a small group setting, and they will leave the class with a completed assignment they can be proud of.

Supply List
Please have your child attend class with blank paper, writing utensils, and either crayons or markers.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
