The young wizard will deal the aces one at a time across table. Then three indifferent cards are place on each, making four, four card rows. At the wizard's command, all the aces are discovered to have teleported to the the first row, and the other three have only random cards. I will first perform the routine. Next, I will explain how it works. The students will practice each of the two simple card management skills involved. I will be adding suggestions as well as giving individual assistance as needed. Then, the students will perform the bare bones of the trick in its entirety. From here, we will discuss how to make the trick most entertaining and fun. This will relate back to some of what I did in the initial performance. Students will learn to do a clever card turnover that sets up the trick. They will also learn an easy to do, simple card control that is used in countless magic tricks. Emphasis is placed upon performance presentation, which includes how to treat an audience, how to be a good speaker, and how to add mystery to the routine so that what might be just a trick becomes magically amazing. These card handling skills will be very helpful in learning this trick.* 1. Riffle shuffle cards 2. Overhand shuffle cards. 3. Deal cards one at a time onto the table. 4. Hold the deck in one hand without control trouble. 5. Spread cards from one hand to the other cleanly. * This class teaches a simple, basic, easy sleight of hand skill that is used in innumerable different card tricks. This makes a great follow-up to all of the Ace tricks.
Learning Goals
They will learn the use of performance presentation to make a trick more than just a fooler, and into an fun and amazing journey.

Supply List
A deck of cards in good condition. For smaller hands, "Bridge" size cards are preferred over "Poker" size. It can often be difficult to pick individual cards up from a flat surface, like a tabletop. In order to make the card handling easier, you may want to consider looking online at close-up mats. These are not required, as there are also home substitutes, like thin towels, or such.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
The magic classes I teach are for close-up magic with cards, coins, everyday objects and some special magic objects, too. I also include the very special and important "inner secrets" of magic. Misdirection, creating mystery and surprise, using special unseen and unknown set-ups and "moves", and sometimes simple sleight of hand are taught.
I've been a professional magician since 1972, performing for private parties, corporations, festivals and special events. I performed my own parlor magic show at a famous mansion for two years.
As a magic teacher, I've taught summer camps for the University of Minnesota's summer kids camps for more than ten years. I've also taught kids for the Twin Cities Magic Academy (an affiliate of Discovery Magic, a national magic business), for two Minneapolis Park programs, and taught private lessons.
My classes are about making magic amazing, making presenting magic about more than just fooling people. When spectators ask my students, "How did you do that!?", they really mean, "How in the world could you possibly have done that? That can't happen!" They say "Wow!" before they ask how.
Within the learning and performing of magic lies opportunities for growth in developing speaking skills, self-confidence, perseverance, politeness, reading for learning and a bit of theater.
My mantra for teaching and performing is "Magic is Fun for Everyone".
