This specific course is geared toward higher level thinking. Each literature circle role is directly connected to the 11 elements of critical thinking: big ideas, rules, trends, patterns, language of the discipline, ethics, relationships over time, details, unanswered questions, across disciplines and multiple perspectives. Students will rotate through these roles by investigating one per week, experiencing eight of them in total. Week 1: Chapters 1-3 Week 2: Chapters 4-9 Week 3: Chapters 10-16 Week 4: Chapters 17 - 22 Week 5: Chapters 23 - 26 Week 6: Chapters 27-33 Week 7: Chapters 34 - last chapter
Homework Offered
Students will be expected to read approximately 35 pages per week and complete a one page "job" in order to be ready to present to the group each week.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
