Elements of Art - A Must For New Art Students!

****There is a condensed session of this full course over Winter Break - December 20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30. This section is already posted, just check to make sure those dates work for you! In this course, students will learn about the seven elements of art (line, shape, form, value, color, texture, and space). The elements of art are the most basic parts of any artwork and it is crucial for students to understand how to incorporate these into their artwork in order to be successful...
I am passionate about students learning the elements of art and principles of design in order to give them the proper framework for creating successful works of art. With this knowledge, students can then add their own personal style and ideas to make truly original works of art. The elements of art and principles of design help to give a more concrete approach to art-making which in turn, allows more students to feel successful making art. Any students planning to progress through any levels of art should have this knowledge. I teach this course yearly at the summer camp that I hold at my art studio and students are thrilled with the work that they are able to complete during this course.
Students will need: Sketchbook or Notebook, #2 pencil, sharpener, white vinyl eraser, colored pencil - 24-count or higher - Crayola is good quality and affordable, 9x12 drawing paper pad, fine sharpie, ultra-fine sharpie. These materials can be purchased for $10-$20 total at a big box or art supply store. Students will be provided with project instruction sheets, example photos, and practice activities via digital file.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
