Class Experience

In this course, we will discuss the history of the electoral college and its effectiveness in the 21st Century. The course will highlight several key presidential races throughout the history of the United States, including the elections of:
- 1824
- 1876
- 2000
- 2016

We will begin this class with a brief explanation of what the electoral college is and students will discuss why it was included in the United States Constitution. We will then explore the electoral college in practice and discuss whether or not the electoral college is an effective method for choosing our president.
