The Eighth Wonder of the World

There are the Seven Ancient Wonders, the Natural Wonders, Modern, Medieval, and New Wonders. History has no problem saying what the seven best are. But what about the 8th, the places, and things that just missed the cut?

Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
Many are familiar with the seven wonders of the world. Some know that there are multiple wonders lists including ancient, modern, medieval, new, and natural. In all the classes I teach on the seven wonders of the world the most common question is what didn't make the list.
In this class, students will learn about the places that just didn't quite make the cut. The 8th, 9th, and 10th Wonders. This list includes the 10 places based on the New Wonders Foundation's data and other common suggestions from third parties. Students will learn about these places including fun facts and history.

The list includes:
Neuschwanstein
Eiffel Tower
Moai Statues
Acropolis of Athens
Kremlin and Red Square
Alhambra, Spain
Angkor Wat
Sydney Opera House
Timnuktu, Mali
Kiyomizu Dera japan
Statue of Liberty
Statue of Unity
The Banaue Rice Terraces
Terracotta Army
Pink and White Terraces
Sigiriya

Teacher expertise and credentials
I teach all the wonders on outschool and they are taken from my lectures to college students in my art history classes. Based on student questions I learned about the 8th wonders of the world and the numerous suggestions that could be this one thing. Though I don't think one place could fit with all these lists I do believe a discussion about an 8th wonder will help students developed an interest. Is there something else they think should be included?
