Class experience

PHILOSOPHY · Eat a wide variety of colorful, whole foods that are close to their original source · Learn about the process of growing food in a garden · Select local, seasonal, organic, and/or sustainably farmed foods when possible · Appreciate the impact of food on our overall well-being so that we can think, feel, and perform at our best all day long
When I was first asked to write family garden books I was shocked at how many kids (and their parents) didn't really grasp the concept of gardening. The hands-on lessons that can be learned by knowing just a little bit about garden science and nature can instantly inspire kids to make healthy choices. Gardens are also a great way to show the practicalities of what kids are learning in other subjects.
One hand out will be provided prior to the lesson. Each week there will be a simple list of materials, like a ruler or crayons.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
