Scholars will need their own copy of The Dreamer by Pam Munoz Ryan and Peter Sis, and they will need to have read the assigned chapters prior to coming to class. I have been a professional teacher for over 12 years, and when I taught 4th grade, I taught this book, and I created the questions and projects that my colleagues and myself used to deliver instruction for this book.
Writing the story that begins in week 1 Scholars must read assigned chapters before each class One week, scholars will create and answer their own questions
The book, The Dreamer Notebook is preferred, but all writing assignments will be submitted digitally with Google Docs
They are evaluated based on class discussions, their written responses, and their story.
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
In this novel, Neftali has a rough relationship with his dad because his dad is very harsh and strict about what he wants Neftali to do. There is also talk of the Mapuche Indians, and the debate the characters encounter is whether or not the Mapuche should be forced off of their land because of Chile's advancing society.
