Class experience
In this ongoing class students will draw different baby dragons each week from the Wings of Fire book series. These baby dragons will include those from the entire series, including Pyrrhia and Pentala. Students will be encouraged to create their own characters from their drawings. This class is a drawing class. We will not be reading any of the books during live class meetings. Class begins promptly at the five minute mark. This class is taught in English.
Students will learn specific drawing techniques directly related to a fictional text. Students will be given practice in giving and receiving feedback on their artwork.
I am an artist and photographer specializing in fine art, photography, and art education. I am also an avid reader and I love to discuss books and draw out my ideas and perceptions from them. In addition, I have been a homeschool educator for 16 years. I have taught children's art classes privately and through local after school and children's museum programs. Her photography has appeared in Parents Magazine and numerous photography blogs. I enjoy finding connections between things that don't seem connected upon first glance. To do that, I divide things down to their simplest parts and look for similarities. As a result I am able to break down seemingly complicated projects into simple step by step lessons. I also have a great appreciation for irony in art and life and try to infuse humor and silliness in my lessons and in my own work as well.
Homework Offered
Students should complete their unfinished drawings they were unable to finish during class time.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be invited to share their artwork with the class each week as well as areas they feel they are improving on and areas they may still need extra practice on.Grades Offered
Students may use any drawing/coloring supplies they have on hand and are comfortable with though different mediums may be demonstrated by the instructor.
This class is a drawing class. We will not be reading any of the books during live class meetings. Students may discuss the books during class and it should be noted that spoilers may occur. Because of the more advanced drawing I do not recommend this class for learners outside the specified age range. Class begins promptly at the five minute mark. Students attempting to join after this time will not be admitted to class but can request a refund or watch the recording if unable to join class because of technical issues. Students should have their supplies ready at the beginning of class. PLEASE TROUBLESHOOT FOR TECHNICAL ISSUES PRIOR TO ATTEMPTING TO JOIN CLASS FOR THE FIRST TIME THE INSTRUCTOR IS NOT ABLE TO DEAL WITH TECHNICAL ISSUES RELATING TO INTERNET CONNECTIONS, HARDWARE ISSUES, OR ZOOM SETTINGS.
