The Debate Academy
In this multi-day class taught by an experienced debate coach, students will go over the basics of argument, different types of debate, and practice public speaking skills through participating in multiple debates over learner led topics.

*This class can be taken multiple times because each session is different and covers different topics. Class begins with explanation of 3 different types of debate and a warm up argument activity. Students then brainstorm lists of debate topics (with teacher input and guidance) having to do with schools/ learning/ education/ current events/ gaming/ movies/ etc. The class will NOT discuss: gender identity, abortion, or legalization of drugs. How is your class structured? From there we will vote on our top debate topics and choose our BIG THREE. Students and teacher will brainstorm how to answer topics both PRO (for) and CON (against) Then? LET THE DEBATE ROUNDS BEGIN! Students will need to be comfortable interacting with each other on camera. That being said, if your student isn't comfortable on camera, please let instructor know. There are often work-arounds. NO DEBATE EXPERIENCE NEEDED!

Parental Guidance
While it doesn't come up in every debate class, parents need to be aware students may wish to debate whether or not it is appropriate to arm teachers. Instructor is experienced in guiding these debates in the appropriate direction (10+ years as a middle and high school debate coach). Students have current issues (of which this is one) at the forefront of their mind.
