In this class learners will explore the Dancing Plague of 1518, a bizarre historical mystery wehre hundreds of people danced uncontrollably for weeks. They will analyze primary sources, medical theories, and historical interpretations to uncover possible explanations. We will be covering the following topics: What happened in Strasbourg in 1518. What did people at the time believe? As well as possible causes like mass hysteria, ergot posioning, and supernatural/religous explainations. This is a one time class, lasting 45*-60 minutes. This class is taught using a multimedia, interactive approach, making it engaging and discussion driven. Learners will have a high engagement throughout the class. There are live discussions, polls and interactive questions, and an open forum.
