Class Experience

Students will participate in a role-playing game that allows them to experience various parts of Greek Mythology as a young hero/heroine. The mission of each hero/heroine will be to explore a cursed dungeon at the request of Hercules. Hercules is one of the only heroes to be chosen as a God. He believes that this mission will help prove yourself worthy of the same deserved fate.

Class #1:
Students will fully create their hero/heroine character on the character sheet. Next, they will choose a class or role and craft/collect items for their adventure. They will receive special items and choose their abilities.

Dungeon Room #1:
The characters will explore dungeon room #1. They will resolve any missions in the room, defeat any opponent, and look for possible treasure.

Dungeon Room #2:
The characters will explore dungeon room #2. They will resolve any missions in the room, defeat any opponent, and look for possible treasure.

Dungeon Room #3:
The characters will explore dungeon room #3. They will resolve any missions in the room, defeat any opponent, and look for possible treasure.

Dungeon Room #4:
The characters will explore dungeon room #4, finalizing their quest. They will resolve any missions in the room, defeat any opponent, and look for possible treasure. They will await the appearance of the Gods to wrap up the mission.

This is a role-playing game with some similarities in format to other role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons. I have chosen to do it in a much more simplified format so that the class would still be focused on gaining more knowledge in Greek Mythology. If you have done any of the other mythology role playing adventures, you will want to print Heroes in Training Character Sheet 2 again and the Cursed Dungeon Sheet.

Learning Goals

The goal of our lesson is to experience some of the adventures that happen in Greek Mythology. If the student has knowledge of Greek Mythology, their hero/heroine will make wise decisions in the different encounters. If the student has not read Greek Mythology, they will encounter new monsters, gods/goddesses, and places. Every student will receive all the information they need to make the best decision for their hero/heroine.

Parental Guidance
Mythology often has a lot of violence and death due to their stories centered around war, heroes vs. monsters, impossible quests, and jealous gods/goddesses.
