In this ongoing book club, The Cupcake Diaries, the students will be reading about life in middle school and making new friends. Katie Brown meets three new friends and together they form their own club. Four friends plus cupcakes turns out to be the icing on the cake. The books will be split into two parts which will be nine chapters each week. We will come together to have discussions about the book, make predictions, ask and answer questions as well! I think everyone will definitely like this series! I feel that reading, both alone or with a group, has an impact on who we are and how we interact with the world around us. No matter the students’ ages, or whether it is in a small group setting or large group discussion, conversing about books tends to turn into conversations about being human. Book clubs give each learner a sense of belonging and provides connections in many ways. My ultimate goal is to design a positive, affirming experience each time we come together. ** My teaching style is organized and full of fun while being relaxed and friendly at the same time. Please research each book on your own so you are comfortable with the content. As the parent or guardian, it is your role to make sure that the books are appropriate for your child as each child is different.
