Class Experience

In this multi-day course, you will learn ways to streamline your writing process through keyboard shortcuts and MIDI channels, make your music more lifelike through automation and quantization, study how to record in different scenarios and different instruments, and create your own synth while learning about waveforms.

Our class schedule is divided into six lessons over six weeks. Classes 1 and 2 focus on inputting your notes, studying the MIDI channels, and reviewing keyboard shortcuts. Classes 3 and 4 consist of learning new patterns of quantization (using the computer to make sure our notes are the correct length) and reviewing EQ (volume for certain tones), compression (overall volume level), and reverb (echos and delays). Classes 5 and 6 center on editing audio files and creating a synth.

This class includes a free 90-day trial version of Logic Pro that can be downloaded onto a Mac computer! The download link will be made available a week before class starts.

You will need access to a Mac computer and the computer program Logic Pro installed.
