Let’s get started writing music with a great tool at our fingertips: our computers! In this course, you will write a piece of music while learning how to work in Logic Pro’s main pages, how to input notes, how to use the drum designer, how to add Logic’s loops to our projects, how to edit the loops, and how to export our audio files. You will create your own music during the class using the tools in Logic Pro. Classes 1 and 2 focus on becoming familiar with the program, inputting notes...
You will spend: Classes 1 and 2 learning about Logic Pro and drafting your songs Classes 3 and 4 adding and editing loops to your songs Classes 5 and 6 adding final touches and exporting your music. Having two classes per subject gives you time to learn a new skill, try it out, receive feedback, and improve your music.
I have a Bachelor's in Music Composition for Film, TV, and Games from Berklee College of Music. I use Logic Pro X professionally for music composition.
You will be required to work on your songs during the week and upload a file of their current progress. It is recommended that you spend 1-2 hours each week working on your projects.
You need a Mac computer (Mac, Macbook Air, or Macbook Pro) with Logic Pro X (Logic Pro) installed. Logic Pro only runs on Mac computers. Logic Pro: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/logic-pro-x/id634148309?mt=12 A MIDI keyboard and studio headphones are helpful and suggested, but not required.
You will receive a written report of their song's progress, including things you have done very well and aspects upon which you can improve.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
