Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
I am going on maternity leave in mid-January and will be back to teaching in mid-March. If you would like to schedule classes that bookend that break, please reach out!

In this class, learners will continue their piano studies through music theory. Designed to work with the Faber and Faber Music Theory workbooks, this class goes more in-depth with the theory they learn through their music. Learners will have the opportunity to spend more time engaging in their theory workbooks. With guided help through their workbook pages, we will also spend time during class strengthening their knowledge of the topics through games, interactive music creation, and discussions.

The topics covered will include learning new note names and their positions on the staff, learning the intervals (distances) between two notes and identifying them based on appearance on the staff and hearing, learning the names of chords through their appearance and sound, studying types of musical forms through practice and composition, and learning about composers through games and their pieces of music.

I like to teach music theory through games, interactive slides, and composing so this class is hands-on and fun! I will plan different activities based on where each learner is in their musical journey.

This class is geared for anyone who is in a piano study course with me or another instructor. Send me a message if you have any questions!
