Parents, we will watch a video about using Vizzy to create music videos and CD Baby to distribute music to streaming services. We will not set up Vizzy or CD Baby accounts as part of this class. Per Vizzy's and CD Baby's policies, minors between the ages of 13 and 18 are welcome to use the site with their parent or guardian's permission.
You will need (all free applications): To know how to play a musical instrument Blank staff (https://static.musictheory.net/pdf/blank.pdf) or TAB paper (https://www.imusic-school.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/tab-diagramme.pdf) Notebook paper Pencil Eraser Access to YouTube, Spotify, or other similar music streaming service Access to a free audio recording app (Apple: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/voice-memos/id1069512134, Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.media.bestrecorder.audiorecorder&hl=en_US&gl=US, computer: (https://www.audacityteam.org/download/) Access to a tablet that runs Apple's Garageband (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/garageband/id408709785) or a computer that runs Audacity (https://www.audacityteam.org/download/) and Kontakt Komplete (https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-start/). If using a computer to record, I recommend purchasing a computer microphone. We will refer to family-friendly pop songs as you learn about form, melodies, and chords. These will be available on YouTube, Spotify, and other music streaming platforms. While listening to them is encouraged, it is not required. During our final class, we will watch videos in class about how to use Vizzy to create music videos, upload your videos to some social media sites, and how to upload your music to streaming services using CD Baby.
