Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an all-around creative person and thinker. I hold an MA in Humanities from Milligan College. I did my senior thesis on poetry and now have to books in publication. I am a painter and art lover. I have taken years of training as a singer. I love all these things and my goal is that my students will too!
My classes are about learning how to appreciate and understand poetry, music, and art. Not everyone will become a famous wtiter/musician/artist, and that's ok! By studying the arts students become more sensitive to the world around them, learn to interact with others' experiences, and become better communicators.
My classes are discussion based. I want to hear my students reactions to what they see and hear. In the arts, all opinions are valid. An important component to my teaching is having a student learn to articulate WHY a student does or does not like a particular piece.
