Description
Class Experience
As mentioned above, this class will be social in nature but with the following intended goals: - effectively communicate processes, ideas and opinions - expand palates and explore through food - acquire skills needed for preparing food independently
While there won't be any homework, learners are encouraged to peruse the selected cookbooks each week to vote on which they prefer to cook from. Additionally, they are welcome to make an additional dish from the selected cookbook to share with the group, though this is not required.
Contact your local library for free access to the Hoopla Digital app. (recommended)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
While many cooking skills can be taught through online instruction, parents/guardians are best to determine their child's comfort and skill in the kitchen. My goal is to build upon what they already know...safely. If you have any questions about whether your child's skill level is appropriate for a particular class, don't hesitate to reach out. *As you will be responsible for providing ingredients for this class, please be sure to check all food label ingredients for potential allergens.
We will be sourcing cookbooks that are readily available through the Hoopla Digital app (a streaming/E-book app available for free through most public libraries).
