Part competition, part social club, in this cooking and discussion course, students will be given a new cooking challenge each week, then they will cook an original dish, photograph it, and present it to the group for further discussion.
Class experience
In this cooking club inspired by the show "Chopped," students will be given a cooking challenge each week, then return the following to share and discuss what they did. This course is designed for those students that are already experienced and comfortable in the kitchen. Students will cook on their own without teacher assistance, instruction or supervision; however, after presenting their dishes, we will discuss cooking techniques, address student questions about cooking and food, and offer...
Students will improve critical thinking skills and creativity as they apply to cooking. Students will also learn more about cooking techniques and ingredients.
My primary job is being a high school English teacher; however, I also love food and love to cook. I have been cooking since I was a kid and even though I am not culinarily trained, I am an excellent chef with 20 years of experience working in restaurants and as a private caterer.
Homework Offered
Students are assigned to prepare one original dish using four specified ingredients prior to each class. Students should take photos of their dish or create a short video (max 90 seconds).1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Students will be working in the kitchen, cutting, and cooking. This course is designed for students that are already experienced in the kitchen. New students are welcome but will need the guidance and assistance of a third party. Kitchen safety is always important and is the sole responsibility of the parents. Please be sure to supervise students when needed.
