Do you love to bake cookies? Have you ever wondered about what makes cookies turn from dough into the delicious treat we love? In this one-time science class, we will learn about the chemistry of cookies. Learners will learn what different ingredients contribute to the cookie - why we need ingredients such as butter, flour or eggs (or what we may need to substitute if we leave these out). We will look at the chemical structure of several ingredients, and will understand some of the key...
A detailed supply list will be provided at least 48 hours before class. All hands-on activities are optional during the class time. Supplies include: -vegetable oil -water -baking soda -baking powder -vinegar -several cups -pipecleaners
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
There is no actual cooking in this class. All of the hands-on demos are done with simple and safe household ingredients (eg vegetable oil, vinegar). There may be a bit of mess, though, so please set up a suitable location for your learner!
