Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
This is a four week flex course about the care and keeping of leopard geckos. Flex classes do not have live meetings.

In this flex course students will learn about where leopard geckos live in the wild and also about how to take care of them in captivity from egg to adult. I personally raise and rescue leopard geckos. Throughout this course I will use written lessons, live videos, photos and my personal leopard geckos to teach students about these awesome creatures.

Students will interact with each other through questions posted in the classroom, and also will be given puzzles and quizzes throughout the class to not only test their knowledge, but to make learning fun. They are to work together with their classmates to complete these worksheets. Students also will be assigned to do some little projects of making their own leopard geckos. Most of the projects they can do in anyway they would like (painting, drawing, play-doh, ect). They will share their craft projects with the other students. One of the projects will be specifically taught via pre recorded video, for this project students will need pony beads and elastic, ribbon or similar material.

Students are also highly encouraged to ask any questions regarding the care and keeping of leopard geckos that we may not have directly covered in class.

Here is a breakdown of what will be taught each week.

Week 1 we will talk about what a leopard gecko is and where they live in the wild. We will also talk about some of the cool facts about leopard geckos. This week has the least amount of information.
Week 2 we will talk about the beginning of the lifecycle eggs. We will talk briefly about mating and will also talk about egg incubation and development.
Week 3 we will talk about how to set up and prepare your habitat/terrarium for your leopard gecko. Students will see pictures of various habitat set ups to give them a wide variety of ideas on how to create a habitat your gecko will enjoy.
Week 4 we will talk about common health problems and different morphs/patterns.

Throughout the course students will meet some of my leopard geckos.
