In this six-class / two-week course, students will learn even more language arts lessons featuring "Word Play" but now in the form of creative writing exercises and storytelling ideas that deal with rhymes and rhyming.
Class Experience
This class, in conjunction with "The Campy Camp: Having Summer Fun with Fun Words", explores the particular way rhyming words, phrases, musical lyrics and poetry help in the creative writing and storytelling process. Students will learn, through extremely interactive, enjoyable and engaging lessons, how to recognize words that rhyme based on their spelling, their meaning and how they're used in a sentence, idea or thought. Students will improve upon their understanding of word play -- in particular how words and/or phrases that rhyme can be combined with alliteration, onomatopoeia, homonyms, anagrams, puns and more -- to form the basis for creative writing, storytelling and brainstorming ideas. This course will enhance their reading skills, their writing skills, their thinking skills and help them become even more creative in their language arts efforts.
