The Business of Art: Creating a Business With Your Art!
In this weekly course, students will develop strategies and a plan to market their art, music or writing to a paying audience.
What's included

2-4 hours per week. While their isn't homework, students will be expected to continuously work on their media and implementing marketing plans from class. Students are able to email/message me on the Outschool platform for questions or feedback in between sessions.Class Experience
In this session, students will learn about self-reflection and critical thinking as they master their art in preparation for marketing. Specifically, students will learn about targeting their ideal audience and creating a sales funnel for their work. Marketing strategies for both online and in-person avenues will be covered. The class will be structured as part lecture part interactive sessions for students to get direct feedback on their media and marketing strategy. Group assignments such as literary magazines or webinar "recital" activities will also be developed and shared at the end of the 4 weeks. As a teacher, business coach and entrepreneur, I will work with students using the same strategies I have used to build my own businesses. This course is for student who are already passionate and serious about taking their art into a future career/business venture. Specific art, music, writing instruction will not be taught, but strategies for personal critiquing and adjusting the product based on market research will be the main focus.

Other Details
Parental Guidance
Part of the marketing plan instruction will be about in-person techniques. This will involve task (not limited to) attending community art festivals, reaching out to local galleries or businesses interested in a partnership with your child. For example, musicians may reach out to local coffee shops to play. This will require your participation and supervision.
