What if your student was: -willing to try new things -stick with hard tasks and not give up -push themselves to do their best work, and not just what's "good enough" -Believed in themselves and their own ability to learn anything One of the hardest things to hear as a teacher, and a parent myself, is, "I'm not good at this so I'm not going to do it/never going to be good at it/not going to try/insert any excuse..." In this class, and subsequent sessions, student's will learn the difference between a "fixed mindset" and a "growth mindset". We will discuss and learn that the brain can grow and change and learn new things (neuroplasticity). Through commitment and hard work, students can learn anything! With a Growth Mindset your student's outlook on learning, as well as their self-esteem, will be changed! Join for me for just one session focusing on a specific area you need help, a combination of sessions, or the whole series to strengthen all aspects of your growth mindset. Each Part will discuss a different Growth Mindset Trait! What is a Growth Mindset? (Part 1): Fixed Mindset vs. Growth Mindset/What is a Growth Mindset? How your Brain Thinks Thoughts (Part 2): Neuroplasticity: The Science behind a Growth Mindset Fix your Fixed Mindset (Part 3): Growth Mindset Statements and Affirmations: Positive Self-Talk Marvelous Mistakes (Part 4): Resiliency: Celebrate Mistakes Goal Setting (Part 5): SMART Goals: Tasks that promote Struggle and Growth Yet (Part 6): YET!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a home-school mom of two (5th grade and 10th grade!), who loves to teach (and learn!) through creative means! We are always learning visually, tactically, and kinetically!! I love to teach Math using manipulatives, Science through crafts and experiments, Language Arts with toys, etc!
I have a background in education, and believe in Student Directed Learning. I feel students who are given the opportunity to lead their learning style, will grasp the concepts faster and comprehend the material better! This is why my teaching style allows for visual, auditory, tactile, and kinetic learning!
My love for teaching stems from a family of teachers! Growing up with both grandparents and parents who were teachers instilled a love of learning creatively in me!! When I became a mother, I knew I would enjoy teaching my own children! It has been very rewarding to teach my two children for the last 3 years! However, I firmly believe that even home school students should have interaction with other children. When we joined a co-op of other home-schoolers I was quickly asked to teach! The joy I get from creating fun lessons for others children, and the look on their faces when they grasp a concept furthers my love of teaching! I have taught language arts, geography, cultural studies, and art in a large group setting!
If your child learns best in this teaching style, feel free to recommend a subject matter and I am happy to plan a class around your child :) I am also flexible in planning around times and dates, some students learn different subjects best at different times! My children love to start their morning with Math, and during the afternoon slump do a fun science experiment! Every learner is different, so don't hesitate to ask for a different time!
I look forward to teaching, and learning from your students!
