Class Experience

Sophie, the teacher for this class, has experience as an upper elementary Montessori teacher, and has previously taught students about this book and subject matter.
There will be required reading each week that will need to be done ahead of class to be able to fully participate in the class. This is as follows:

Week 1 - Chapters 1-3
Week 2 - Chapters 4-6
Week 3 - Chapters 7-9
Week 4 - Chapters 10-12
Week 5 - Chapters 13-14

In addition to this, weekly reading comprehension, research prompts and journalling activities will also be given. These are recommended, but optional.
All students will need their own copy of The Boy Who Biked the World Part One: On the Road to Africa by Alastair Humphreys for this class. A 16-page pdf file adventure journal will be provided ahead of the class starting. At least the world map (1 page) will need to be printed off.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
