*This is a story of four sisters being raised by their father and the adventures they experience as a family. Each sister has her own unique personality. And just like the timeless classic, Little Women, we can each see ourselves in one or two or all of the Penderwick sisters. *Discussion and interaction are welcome! In each class, and through informal discussion and prompting questions, we will explore the topics of: setting, characters, plot, critical analysis. *During class students will volunteer to do an oral narration of the chapter. We will discuss any unfamiliar/interesting vocabulary in the context of the reading. I will provide questions to foster discussion. Students will share their favorite parts and their opinions. Questions may be leveled from simple recall to more complex and higher leveled thinking. *Students will read the chapters before class time and come to class ready to discuss. *There may be optional after class activities to complete such as a character sketch, or writing an alternative ending. I may share links for enriching the experience. *It is helpful for students to be skilled at reading, however, students may also have chapters read to them by an adult or audio book reading. Here is the breakdown of chapters. Please have these chapters read before class. Session 1: Chapters 1,2,3 Session 2: Chapters 4,5,6 Session 3: Chapters 7,8,9 Session 4: Chapters 10,11,12 Session 5: Chapters 13,14,15 Session 6: Chapters 16,17,18
