Description
Class Experience
Students will learn about the Black Death, including its origins and consequences.
I have a master's degree in history from the University of Cambridge in early modern Europe and 15 years experience teaching history, including AP approved courses in World history which I have both taught and graded for 15 years.
Readings will be provided for the student to prepare for the class discussion.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Due to the nature of the content, this course will discuss disease and death. We will not focus on the deaths, but rather the broader historical context including economic, political, and social history. As these students are high school aged, this material will not be too sensitive for most students, however, parental monitor is recommended.
https://sourcebooks.fordham.edu/sbook.asp We will use primary sources from the Fordham University database to read about the responses and reactions to the Black Death.
