Welcome to your class on the Bermuda Triangle!

This class is intended for students who want to learn some general knowledge about the Bermuda Triangle and hear some fascinating stories of shipwrecks and planes that have mysteriously disappeared.

In this class, I will provide background knowledge on the Bermuda Triangle including its location, name, and how it became famous. We will also cover some of the theories that have been created to try and explain what is happening there. I will share four true stories about unsolved mysteries in the Bermuda Triangle. Students will be given the opportunity to examine each story and brainstorm what they think happened. Was it a UFO? Bad weather? Pirates? Are they alive still and stranded on an island? There are many possibilities and we will explore them together!

Students will get to participate throughout the class and share their opinions and ideas. At the end of class, we will play a game of Kahoot together to review what we have discussed in class. Together we will dive deep into this fascinating, yet, very mysterious place and become engulfed in the stories that have created this legend!

Learning Goals

Students will have a general understanding of what the Bermuda Triangle is and why there is so much fascination and mystery surrounding this topic.

Hello Outschool families,

My name is Melanie Wiancko, but you can call me Mrs. Mel! I am a Canadian teacher who loves solving puzzles, hiking, jogging, reading, and playing games! I hope to offer courses that spark your interest in history, geography, math, travel, escape rooms, chess, world religion, and more! 

Experience: I have received my Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University and my Bachelor of Arts in History from Brock University. I am a certified teacher in Ontario, Canada, and I also have specific qualifications in intermediate math and intermediate/senior history and geography.  I have experience teaching English online to English Language Learners ranging in ages from three to fifteen. I love teaching online and the opportunity to connect with students of all ages from around the world. We all have something to learn from one another!

Teaching Philosophy: As a lifelong learner, I believe that learning is best experienced when it is interactive, engaging, and is something that you are passionate about.
