Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
Beginner Level
We will discuss keeping bees as a hobby and the benefits of bees to our environment. This class combines nature and science with reading skills. We will do this by reading the A-Z Reading book The Bee Keeper. Attention will also be given on reading words with the open vowel y, suffix -y and -ly, and contractions. There will be time spent activating prior knowledge of bee keeping and vocabulary development. The class will be a discussion style class, which is relaxed and engaging. Students will come away with many facts about bees while improving their reading comprehension skills. We will have video clips of bees from my farm, game time with Quizizz, discussion, as well as learning a simple way to retell information from an expository passage.
Week 1- The Work of a Beekeeper
Week 2- Life in the Hive
Week 3- Types of Bees
