The Beatles as Poets: Studying the Figurative Language of the Fab Four
What's included
2 live meetings
1 hrs 30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Clearly, The Beatles were groundbreaking musicians, but they were also incredible wordsmiths! This class will focus on their figurative language. In this class, students will explore alliteration, hyperbole, metaphor, simile, idiom, and personification found in Beatles lyrics. I will first play a Kahoot with my students to see how much preteaching about the figurative language needs to be done, and we will cover the first three figurative language examples in depth on day 1. On day 2, we will go over the second three examples, and then spend the rest of the class creating their own song or poem that reflects the figurative language we studied together. This class is inclusive, which means students of all abilities are welcome. If you student needs any accommodations please let me know and we will work together to ensure that they have the best possible class experience.

Students will learn the following figurative language devices: alliteration, hyperbole, metaphor, simile, idiom, and personification
