Wilderness Survival Class: Essential Skills for Staying Safe in the Wild (Ages 5 and Up)

Note: If your student is outside the recommended age range, please contact me to request an exception. This class is specifically designed for students aged 5 and up.

Hello, Survivor!

In this fun and engaging one-time class, your student will learn critical wilderness survival skills to stay safe if ever lost in the wild. Drawing from years of experience, I cannot stress enough how important this knowledge is for every child and adult.

My goal is to teach students the essential steps to survive during the first 72 hours if they are stranded in the wilderness. Being lost can be extremely dangerous, especially for those with little to no survival knowledge. This class equips students with the skills they need to stay alive until help arrives.

In this class, your student will learn:

The survival mindset: staying calm and positive in tough situations.

How to build shelter and why it's essential for survival.

Fire-building techniques using different materials and methods.

How to find and treat fresh water for consumption (critical for survival, as you can only survive 3 days without it).

Emergency signaling methods to attract rescuers.

The basic tools and equipment needed for outdoor survival.

After completing this class, your student will have the knowledge and confidence to survive in the wilderness for up to 30 days. This is life-saving information every child and adult should know.

I’m happy to teach this class with only one student if needed, so there's no need to worry about cancellations.

Parental Guidance
I do talk about proper survival tools such as knives, and fire starters. I do strictly emphasize the importance of having adult supervision if ever practicing making a shelter, building a fire and treating water. For the most part though this class is not at all scary, I have never had a parent or student complain about feeling anxious or scared after the class.

I am a U.S. military veteran, former firefighter/first responder, and passionate outdoorsman with over 25 years of survival expertise. Throughout my career, I’ve faced life-threatening situations where I relied on my survival skills to stay safe, including experiencing hypothermia, heatstroke, encounters with dangerous animals, and sustaining serious injuries.

My training and experience include:

U.S. Coast Guard: During my service, I participated in federal law enforcement, search and rescue missions, and was part of a hurricane response team in South Florida, providing vital disaster response and recovery support.

Firefighter/First Responder: I served for 10 years, gaining extensive hands-on experience in emergency response and medical care.

Survival Training: I am trained in urban survival, wilderness survival, survival psychology, critical incident peer support, and emergency management. I’ve also completed disaster preparedness courses to equip others with the tools to survive in extreme situations.

Teaching Experience: I have taught basic first aid and emergency preparedness to children and adults, empowering them with life-saving skills.

Mentorship & Outdoor Adventures: I have had the honor of mentoring under fellow veterans, including special operations servicemen, military medics, corpsmen, and combat survival instructors during numerous outdoor adventures.

This blend of practical experience and specialized training allows me to teach essential survival skills to others, ensuring they are prepared for any emergency situation.
