Class Experience

This one-time class is great for those wanting to get into skateboarding but have NO idea where to start. As a professional skateboarder who has been skateboarding for 20+ years, I have had to do a lot of self-learning and remember what it was like to be confused by the whole process.

You do not need to have a skateboard for this course!

We will be covering the basics of skateboarding, including:

- What you should wear, including what shoes to wear and protective gear
- Shopping for your first (or second!) skateboard: what to look for in a board
- Let's talk about the price range of a good board
- Finding your stance and how to stand on your skateboard
- How and where to practice riding around
- How to learn to stop
. The importance of filming your progression
- How to find confidence at the park & how to not compare yourself to others

The last portion of the course will be a Q&A where I can answer any remaining questions!

Learning Goals

Students will improve their understanding of the basics of skateboarding and where to start.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Nick. I'm a semi-professional skateboarder from Vancouver, Canada. I have 15+ years of recreational skateboarding experience combined with 10+ years of professional skateboarding experience. Skateboarding has taken me all around the world!

I have taught students of all ages - from teaching English in Cambodia, as well as teaching skateboarding in Australia and Canada alike. I believe in keeping an inclusive and encouraging classroom. I know how intimidating learning a new skill can be, that's why I'm extra patient and kind with my learners and will always take the extra time to make sure my students succeed.
