Class Experience

This course will cover the basics of DNA, RNA and protein synthesis, as well as transcription and translation. I will lecture via powerpoint with student interaction and questions during lecture, as well as youtube videos to tie everything back together. A very basic understanding of cells and their function will be beneficial, but is not necessary. There will be no required homework or testing for this course, but I will provide a brief quiz and worksheets for each student to test their own understanding after the course if they wish.

Session 1: The Basics of DNA and RNA
Session 2: Transcription & Translation

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am a high school science teacher, turned stay at home mom who loves all things the cell, forensics and DNA! I have an undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Forensic Science and have taught biology, anatomy and physiology, and physical science at a local private school. I believe learning should be interesting and fun, so you are not even aware you are learning. Knowledge is power, the more you know the more successful you will be!
