Description

Class Experience

Students will learn the basics of how to get started with hand embroidery including transferring a pattern, basic stitches and flexing their creativity
Each week there will be a photo upload and discussion question in which students will interact with each other to share how their experience is going as well as solve common issues together
-Small embroidery hoop (4 or 6 inch - wood/bamboo is best) -Embroidery needle (I recommend starting with size 7 or 9) -Fabric cut to fit embroidery hoop so that there is about 3 inches of fabric outside of the hoop (a wide variety of fabrics with do - I like linen, thin cotton or even tulle! You can even use an old pillowcase to reuse materials. For the purposes of beginning hand embroidery I do NOT recommend stretchy fabrics) -Scissors -6-strand cotton embroidery floss (My favorite brands are DMC and Anchor but anything will do. Students will need at least 3 colors of similar shades for this class. For example a dark purple, medium purple and light purple. But I encourage students to get creative and use whatever colors they like best!) -Thin, dark-colored marker for tracing
Each week there will be a photo upload and discussion question in which students will interact with each other to share how their experience is going as well as solve common issues together
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Students will need to use a needle to do hand embroidery
