Learn how to artfully craft the personal essay in order to enhance your college application!
Class Experience
Students will learn what admission representatives are truly looking for on the college application. In this three week course, students will first learn about the variety of short answer and essay questions often asked on the common application as well as individual university applications. I am offering this class because with my experience in college admissions and teaching writing across high school and college, I've found the essay is often the determining factor between a "yes" and a "no" in acceptance to universities. Writing is also a valuable skill transferable to all career paths. I have been a teacher for seven years across all grade levels, and I have an MFA in writing, so I believe my knowledge and writing skills are beneficial to the students I work with. I have had much success in getting students on their desired path regarding their college applications.

1 file available upon enrollmentExample essay topics and short answer responses from a variety of universities as well as the common application are provided. Students will need to have access to any application they are working on so that they may communicate with me their current topic so that I may better assist them. No outside materials need to be purchased, although I will recommend some books that are helpful regarding style and punctuation to add "flavor" to their writing as an extension of their studies in the course. That book is called: "A Dash of Style" by Noah Lukeman (optional but helpful).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
