Class Experience

This class will help students discover how math and art combine to produce beautiful results both in nature and in historic artistic masterpieces!

Bring your favorite sketchpad and art supplies while we draw our way to learn about these math concepts:

- in week one, students will learn about a pattern of numbers called the Fibonacci Sequence. The project begins by constructing geometric figures according to this sequence!
- in week two, we will explore how the geometry of pinecones, seashells and sunflowers can show us to use math to draw more accurately while also learning about interesting math concepts like the Golden Spiral!

Learners do not need to be artistically inclined since every step for connecting math and art will be covered in detail. If you can count while using a pencil and a ruler, then you can learn to draw amazing art using math!

With degrees in Math, Music and Education, I have been teaching students for over thirty years.

I teach classes that offer learners a chance to experience the creative side of math by putting theory into practice to design things like dragons, anime characters, castles and more. My classes are activity-based and encourage students to learn through hands-on projects that mimic real life math-in-action done by architects, engineers and designers.
