Description
Class Experience
Students will learn about: 1. The body's largest organ, the skin (dermatology) 2. Basic flower anatomy (botany) 3. How a foxes body changes to prepare for cooler temperatures (mammal adaptations) 4. Octopuses - the ocean’s Intelligent Invertebrate (marine science) 5. How to identify and create 3D geometric shapes including platonic solids (geometry) 6. How stones are formed with a spotlight on agate (geology) 7. How different combinations of the primary colors can create secondary colors (color theory) 8. Reduce, reuse, recycle, and upcycle (conservation practices)
Most activities will require: a pencil, scissors, cardstock, coloring implements, and glue. A specific supply list will be sent several days before each class begins. A few activities require special items like Heat Bond (upcycle apparel), embroidery needle (fox string art), and adjustable flat rings base (paper ring).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Most activities will be completed during the class time, however a couple may need to dry overnight. Some pre-class preparation is also required. Parental guidance is required for the use of scissors.
