Class Experience

Hello and Welcome to The ArKIDecture Academy!

In this five day camp, students will learn the basics of blueprints while designing their very own dream house. They will each leave class with their own set of blueprints, including floor plans and elevations.

Day 1:
1 - Introductions
2 - What is Architecture? What are Blueprints? As a class, we will look at slides and discuss different types of architecture. We will also look at examples of blueprints, learn why they are called blueprints, and discuss their importance in the design field.
3 - We will assemble our blueprint set together with step by step guidance.

Day 2: Dream House Elevations
1 - As a class, we will review slides and discuss 'Elevations'.
2 - We will discuss desired shapes, building materials, and geographic location of each student's dream house.
3 - Students will draw four elevations of their dream house.

Day 3: Dream House Floor Plans
1 - As a class, we will review slides and discuss 'Floor Plans'.
2 - We will discuss rooms, furniture, and details that can be incorporated into each student's dream house.
3 - Students will learn how to draw basic architectural elements in plan view.
4 - Students will draw a floor plan of their dream house.

Day 4:
1 - Final Designs - Students will continue finalizing their designs with guidance and classroom discussion.
2 - Students will design their Title sheet and assemble their Dream House Blueprints

Day 5:
1 - Sharing Designs - Students will each have the opportunity to share their projects with the class.

This camp is designed as a hybrid of my most requested classes. There are no prerequisites, however, if your child enjoyed 'Paper Houses' or 'Building Blueprints', this will be a perfect fit for them. If your child enjoys this camp and they have not taken those classes, I suggest they try them out! :)

I will encourage class interaction, sharing of ideas, and open question/dialogue throughout class. I love to incorporate fun and laughter into my classes while maintaining clear goals and expectations. Each student will finish class with an understanding of blueprints, floor plans, and elevations.

This class may move quicker or slower than anticipated based on the needs of the individual students. Questions, conversations, and sharing are handled gently and respectfully by the teacher.

This class welcomes beginners. Just bring your supplies and a creative & open mind.

If you child is unable to attend class, video recordings will be available for each day of camp. Refunds will not be available once the camp has begun.

Thank you - I look forward to meeting all of your campers soon!
