Class Experience

You've probably seen them in the summertime, gathered on a piece of sticky fruit, or you might even have ant hills in your backyard. Ants are found nearly everywhere, so you have most likely encountered many ants in your life! What kind of animal is an ant? You see them all the time, but where do they make their homes? How do they grow? What do they eat?

This one-time lesson aims to answer these and other similar questions. We will discuss that ants live in groups called colonies where ants have a specific job. Students will learn that an ant's body has three main parts: head, thorax, and abdomen. We will cover the life cycle of the ant, different kinds of ants, and make our own ant farm using two mason jars! (Finding and adding ants to ant farm will be completed outside of class.)

This lesson involves learners in several types of learning activities; discussion, observation, hands on activity, and interacting with teacher and other learners.

My teaching style is child-centered, interactive, and engaging. No prior skills are necessary.

This class last 40-45 minutes depending on class size and children's abilities.

Learning with me is fun and exciting! I teach English to native speaking children ages 3 - 18 years old, as well as English as a second language to children to improve their English speaking skills. In addition to academic lessons, I offer a variety of lesson topics; lessons about animals, traveling, music, creative writing, holidays, and more! In my classroom we learn while playing fun games and learning new songs together. My classroom is both fun and educational. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, by having new adventures and experiences together. I share my home with my four dogs and three cats. In my spare time I enjoy volunteering at local animal shelter in my community. I can't wait to meet your child in the classroom!
