In this self-paced course, there is no live instruction. The learner will understand the factors that contributed to 13 British colonies gaining their independence from King George and Great Britain, including taxation, important figures, and battles. Instruction may be supplemented with additional video clips, handouts, reading material, and/or games. Students will also receive access to the slides used in class. The class will include multiple interactive activities (in the Outschool classroom), including but not limited to a "Patriot or Loyalist?" callout activity, EdPuzzle video, a key person matching activity, Valley Forge "Stay Or Go" voting poll, Tea protest poster discussion, and discussion chats; all of which will prompt students to share their knowledge for a better understanding of the topic. The course material is organized in the following sequence: 1 - Taxation without Representation, Boston Tea Party, Boston Massacre 2- Important Figures and the Continental Congress 3 - Declaration of Independence 4 - Key American Revolution Battles 5 - The Surrender at Yorktown and Review
Learning Goals
By the end of the course, students will be able to discuss facts, opportunities, obstacles, and relevant information pertaining to the American Revolution. The class is interactive (in the Outschool classroom) so that it encourages learner participation and questions.
