In this one time biology class about parasites, learners will be introduced to the field of parasitology. We will explore the biology of parasites and how they interact with their hosts. We will look at several different types of parasites and discuss their life cycle and morphology as well as the diseases they cause and their impact on humans. Some examples of parasites covered are: Protozoan parasites such as Plasmodium Parasitic worms such as Ascaris At the beginning of class, learners may introduce themselves and I will give a brief outline of the class. I will be using a slide presentation with diagrams and pictures to clearly present the material. I encourage questions and discussions during the class. No prior knowledge is required for this class. Learners should just bring their enthusiasm and love for learning about science.

After completing this class, learners will be able to:
- explain what a parasite is
- discuss different types of parasites
- name some examples of parasites and give details of their life-cycle
