Students will demonstrate their knowledge by constructing model of a neuron with common household items.
I have a graduate degree in psychology. I have taken courses in neuropsychology as an undergraduate and graduate student. I have taught classes about the brain in a home school co op for middle and high school students. I’m passionate about anything related to neuroscience and also psychology!
Optional— The teacher will share handouts, links and videos for students to explore outside of class if they wish.
Supply list to make a neuron: -scissors -tape (any kind) -1 package pipe cleaners (multi color) - molding clay, play dough , bottle caps, or styrofoam balls -assortment of beads (optional)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The learner is assessed informally by the completion of their neuron model and ability to describe the parts and functions of neuron they created to the teacher and students.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
